“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken adults.” F. Douglass
RTK Youth… We have many projects in mind for St Lucia, and our first charitable project is RTK Youth!
RTK Youth is a not-for-profit in creation, focusing on helping the youth of St Lucia to have a positive future, to feel confident, happy and healthy via programs held during school, after school, on weekends and during the school holidays.
It is our aim to create programs that are fun, relevant, safe, explorative, healing, strengthening and confidence building. Programs and activities to foster self-love, self-respect, forgiveness, and respect of others.
The RTK Youth programs are non-religious, open to all levels of income, open to locals and foreign visitors, subsidising those who cannot afford full fees.
Our aim is to provide a positive future for our young people and for St Lucia. To heal the scars of their past and present environments and conditioning. In turn to lighten the resulting burdens on society... the burdens of all too common incidences of abuse, violence, rape and suicide amongst teens.
We are here to help the youth of St Lucia to SHINE!
'Child's Play'... our first project
Children need to have fun! Playing helps children to grow, to be creative, to build coordination skills, to be social, to de-stress and to just be!
We have noticed that children attending local government schools don't have equipment to play with before school, at lunch time and after school. And the school yards can be pretty bleak, there's usually plenty of space, just without play ground equipment. So we're collecting balls, hula hoops, skipping ropes etc, and eventually playground equipment for local schools. We will be presenting our first collection to our local infant and primary school toward the end of July '17. We already have some balls, a set of goal posts, hula hoops and skipping ropes but would like to collect so many more! Please help us to bring fun and creativity to these children's lives.
As the charity's not officially established yet... Island time truly does exist!!!!! Kay's PayPal account is the best way to make donations, you can do this to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would prefer to do a wire transfer just get in touch via the same address for details. We can buy a shiny new football for the children for around £10 so any donations will go a long way!
A bit about this project... This first project which is taking place before we're even officially created came about through circumstance, and was clearly meant to be... and when it's meant to be, it literally arrives on your doorstep!
We live just a few doors down from the local infant and primary school, and as a result have the pleasure of seeing the most beautiful children every day. The school has a lack of play facilities, no playground, very little equipment, it looks a bit bleak to be honest.
The school children discovered that we had a ball, a well used white football, and the rest is history! Read more...
